But before, cannabis was legal in some states of the USA but it was not recognized legal at the federal level. In 2018 a farm bill was presented to make CBD legal throughout the country. And a company named cbdMD a cannabidiol manufacturer. Started a campaign to raise awareness about CBD in the general public. They stated their case to National Day Calendar to name 8th august as national CBD day. And, guess what they agreed.
Later on, in December 2018 bill was passed and CBD became legal at the federal level. That actually worked very well as national CBD day played a vital role in CBD awareness. Plus, sales of CBD also increased drastically.
2. Why it became so popular:
CBD has many health benefits like help in recovery for patients suffering from cancer and arthritis. But, maybe the most remarkable thing is that it helps in anxiety relief. CBD has discovered in 1940 it is a cannabinoid in the cannabis plant that makes up to 40% of the plant’s extract along with other 113 other cannabinoids. But, if we dive deep into the history of cannabis and its benefits. History of CBD is much older than we think. A Chinese emperor used cannabis-derived tea to cure diseases around 2737 BC. In 1839, an Irish physician and medical researcher, William B. O’Shaughnessy, published a study in which he investigated the plant’s benefits. And possible use in the medical field.
